Description: The Haywood County Beekeepers will meet at 7:00PM on Tuesday, August 3, at the Haywood County Extension Center, 589 Raccoon Road.  This will be our first meeting back in person.  As of today, June 16, people who are not fully vaccinated should wear a mask, if you are vaccinated then you have no expectations to wear a mask.  We will continue to distance as much as possible, and we will not have any refreshments available.

The speaker at the August meeting will be Lewis Cauble, NCDA&CS Bee Inspector, and he will speak on "Varroa Mite Management," including sampling and treatment methods.  This is a critical topic this time of year as beekeepers prepare their hives to survive through the winter.

Note: The Haywood Beekeepers and Haywood County Extension Center will be hosting a "Varroa Mite Management Workshop" on Saturday, August 7, time to be determined.  At the workshop you will be able to see how to sample for Varroa Mites, and we will also be demonstrating several of the most common treatment applications.  A bee suit is recommended for this workshop.
