Whether you are new to canning or just want to learn the lastest recommendations, the hands on classes can be a fun way to learn along side others in the community. The lecture class gives you a full coverage of various canning techniques and recommendations all in one place. If you ever wanted to learn how to can, Choice Salsa is a great recipe to use since it is simple and easy to follow. The hands-on enviroment will allow for practicing safe techniques and the opportunity for asking questions and having discussions of various food preservation methods while we make and can our salsa. All supplies will be provided so just bring yourself and your enthusiasm. WNC Farmers Market, 570 Brevard Rd Asheville NC 28806.

Food Preservation Made Easy Lecture
August 5th 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Weaverville Community Center
Now that vegetable gardens and farms are producing a generous harvest, storing and preserving those vegetables extends the bounty so you can enjoy the rewards throughout the year. There are many methods of preserving vegetables and fruits-some easy and some a bit more involved. Putting Up Tomatoes
August 12th 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

One of the best foods for learning how to can is tomatoes. In this hands-on class we cover canning tomatoes with a water bath canner and a pressure canner. Because we cover both methods of canning, this class allows you to experience both techniques.
