Building a Ready Generation in a World of Change

Remember when you were a kid, navigating life’s challenges?
The world’s changed, and it’s moving fast. It feels like now it’s even harder and moving even faster than when we were kids. And yet for over 120 years, 4–H has been there. Just like generations before, we’re preparing today’s youth to be beyond ready — ready to serve, ready to build, ready to conquer, ready to succeed.

Through dynamic programs that are proven to work, and build skills like leadership, problem-solving, team building, and confidence. 4-H is preparing the next generation to be – Beyond Ready.

The theme of this year’s National 4-H Week is “Beyond Ready.” This theme celebrates how 4-H is building a ready generation in a world of change, equipping youth with skills for the future while meeting them where they are today.

History of National 4-H Week

Did you know that what is now known as National 4-H Week began as an outgrowth of World War II? Following Pearl Harbor, it was decided to postpone holding the National 4-H Camp in Washington, D.C.
Soon after, 4-H leaders in Ohio announced their plans for a State 4-H Mobilization Week, focusing on what 4-H members could do for national defense. The idea was embraced by 4-H leaders nationwide and evolved into National 4-H Mobilization Week, observed in 1942, 1943, and 1944. Beginning in 1945, and every year since, it has been known as National 4-H Week.
