Holly Jordan

Holly Jordan is our NEW County Extension Director for Buncombe County. She officially begins this new role on May 1st after serving as interim director since November.

Prior to stepping into this new role, Holly served as the Buncombe County 4-H Youth Development Agent since July 2010. She coordinated community 4-H clubs, school enrichment programs, summer day and overnight camps, regional projects such as the WNC Dairy Steer Program and WNC 4-H Pullet Project, and was responsible for all of the youth outreach conducted by Buncombe County Extension.

Holly grew up in Fort Myers, FL where she was a 4-H member for 10 years participating in livestock, sewing, cooking, leadership, and citizenship projects. Because of her exposure to the campus of the University of Florida through 4-H events, Holly chose to attend UF where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science with a Food Animal specialization. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education and Communication as well.

Holly and her family moved to Buncombe County in June of 2010. Her and her husband, Jimmy, currently reside in Fairview where Jimmy works in building construction. Their daughter, Paige, is a Junior at Cornell University studying business in the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management which is in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Their son, Cole, is attending the SPIRE Academy soccer program near Cleveland, Ohio. He will be attending Eastern Mennonite University in August where he will study biology and also be a member of the men’s soccer team.

While Holly’s specific programming efforts will be focused on general agriculture and agriculture awareness as well as providing leadership to the total office, Buncombe County Extension has a team of professional educators who focus their efforts on Agriculture, Livestock, Consumer and Commercial Horticulture, Family and Consumer Sciences, EFNEP (Expanded Foods and Nutrition Education Program), Small Farms, and 4-H Youth Development. The mission of our office is to address the needs of the community by providing practical, research-based education and services to all Buncombe County residents.

Holly is excited to be stepping into this new role and is excited to share the exciting programs that Buncombe County Extension has to offer. She looks forward to also working and supporting our volunteers who do incredible work to expand our reach into the community.
