Giant pumpkin
Are you interested in learning how to grow giant pumpkins and watermelons for competition? The Mountain State Fair and NC State Fair are not too far off so now is the time to get started!
We are excited to announce that a local award-winning GIANT pumpkin and watermelon grower has offered to teach a workshop to 4-Hers on giant pumpkin/watermelon growing and also share some of her award-winning seeds. She plans to take participants through the season from soil building and seed starting highlighting everything you’ll need to do at each stage of growth, all the way to safely loading and transporting your pumpkin to a competition.
DATE:  Saturday, April 24, 2021
TIME:  10 a.m. (we should be finished by noon)
WHO:  Any youth ages 8-18 living in Western North Carolina (Please make sure a parent is in attendance with you.)
WHERE:  Davis Events Center at the WNC Ag Center in Mills River (Instructions for arrival and the specific gate to enter through) will be emailed to those who register for the workshop.)
**REGISTER** Pre-registration is required due to limited seating.
