WNC AgOptions Grant Relaunches for 2026

The WNC AgOptions Grant Program has been a catalyst in transforming the scope and success of farming operations in our mountain region, providing support to farmers diversifying or expanding their operations.

We are excited to announce that following a one-year pause due to Tropical Storm Helene, the WNC AgOptions Grant Program is back for the 2026 grant cycle, launching August 1, 2025.  With renewed funding from the N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission, the program now offers $10,000 grants per project and expanded eligibility, allowing more farms long-term access to support.

Key deadlines:

  • Application Cycle Opens: August 1, 2025

  • Intent to Apply Due: September 26, 2025

  • Full Applications Due: November 14, 2025

Informational sessions are planned for August and September across the region. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend, and these sessions are particularly helpful for first-time applicants. In order to ensure that proposals are on-track with the goals of the program, applicants need to connect with their local Cooperative Extension agent to discuss their project details. After meeting with an agent, applicants must submit an “Intent to Apply” form by September 26, 2025. The official grant deadline, when all application materials are due, is November 14, 2025.
