Extension Master GardenerSM volunteers (EMGVs) in Buncombe County maintain two compost demonstration sites  - one at Jesse Israel Garden Center in the Western NC Farmers Market and the other at The Learning Garden on the property of the Extension Center at 49 Mount Carmel Road.

Certified EMGVs, Phil Roudebush (in both photos) Dave Bush, Nancy Good,  and Intern Lucy Phillips, recently worked to upgrade the  demonstration site at the WNC Farmers market. This included adding plants from the Learning Garden, a little mulch and a general tidying up of the site to help kick off the summer season.

The Farmers Market site opened for demonstrations on May 11, 2024. The site is staffed and provides demonstrations from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. four times during the growing season.  The dates for in 2024 are: May 11, June 15, August 10 and September 14.
