Buncombe 4-H Member Travels to National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships

(Updated: July 7, 2021, 12:25 p.m.)
We want to recognize Paige Jordan, one of our Buncombe 4-H members, who traveled to Grand Island, Nebraska in June for the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships. This event included over 600 youth from across the country who represented their state 4-H programs in various 4-H shooting sports disciplines.
Paige was a member of the North Carolina Rifle team which competed in silhouettes, CMP, and 3-position events. They had practiced for 2 years as a team for this event. Paige placed 17th overall out of 81 competitors and the NC 4-H Rifle Team came in 8th out of 21 teams. Overall, the entire North Carolina 4-H delegation came in 2nd place.
Through our 4-H shooting sports program, youth learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery, and much more. The activities of the program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and conservation ethics.
