What is the 4-H Outdoor Cookery Program?

The 4-H Outdoor Cookery Presentation Program gives youth the opportunity to demonstrate their outdoor cooking skills while building public speaking confidence. There are multiple categories: Beef, Chicken, Pork and Turkey. Youth select a category and then select a cut of meat to prepare. Participants then plan and present a recipe, explaining the steps, safety practices, and equipment used to prepare their recipe. This program helps youth develop communication skills, organization, and the ability to teach others, all while showcasing their creativity and knowledge of outdoor cookery.

Outdoor Cookery Workshop

The outdoor cookery workshop will explain the process of preparing for an outdoor cookery presentation. Come prepared to get your hands messy as we learn by doing! *No prior cooking or grilling experience is required! We will teach you everything you need to know to be successful in this program!

4-Hers ages 8-18 as of January 1st are invited to attend, as well as parents/adults!

When? RESCHEDULED DUE TO BUILDING MAINTENANCE - Thursday, April 23rd 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

Where? N.C. Cooperative Extension, Buncombe County Center

Who? All 4-H Youth and families who want to learn more about the 4-H Outdoor Cookery! (Adults are required to attend with their youth).
