Livestock in a field

Buncombe County has a rich, beautiful history of diverse livestock production. From traditional family dairy farms, production beef operations, to an expanding small ruminant interest. Livestock production is evident on almost every corner. Each farm presents it’s own uniqueness and traditional value.

Our Livestock Program offers technical support for learning specific aspects of livestock production, assessing properties for agricultural potential, and providing opportunities for youth to learn and compete. Whether you are a seasoned producer or are just beginning your experience in the agricultural realm, N.C. Cooperative Extension can provide educational tools and experiences for you to start out on your path with successful footing.

At the link below, you will find a short survey in hopes to gather the most up to date information on our livestock producers. There is space to include any details on what you are interested in, what you would like to learn, and anything else you would like to include. If you have any issues completing the survey or would prefer to communicate your information in another way, don’t hesitate to reach out. Please share with anyone in the county interested in livestock. Livestock Survey
