There is a new program that USDA has established for Specialty Crop Producers who were impacted by TS Helene. It's the Marketing Assistance for Specialty Crops Program (MASC). Below is a link to the fact sheet detailing all of the information about the program including the eligible crops it covers.
To apply producers need their sales for 2021, 2022, 2023 or 2024 (whichever is higher) for the specialty crop(s). They can provide sales records, tax information, or something showing sales. Important: Deadline to apply is January 8, 2025 (no late file applications will be accepted). Apply at the Madison/Buncombe Farm Service Agency Office by contacting (828) 649-2712 Extension 2.
