We have just received word of an additional matching grant available for farms that suffered damage from last week's hail storm in the Barnardsville/Mars Hill areas of WNC. This is being offered by WNC Communities, as part of its WNC Communities Regional Support program. You will need to apply first for the ASAP funding before you complete the WNC Communities application (both linked below).

The WNC Communities Regional Support program is offering up to $500 in immediate assistance to farm businesses affected by the recent hail storm in the Barnardsville/Marshall area on May 8th, 2024. The application will remain open until May 24th, 2024.

Farm businesses with damages directly related to the storm and have received funding through ASAP's Appalachian Grown Farmer Immediate Needs Grant program are eligible for up to $500 in matching grant funds through this WNCC program.

Farmers who have sustained significant damage, but have not applied for or received the ASAP grant, should contact Jennifer Ferre at 828-252-4783 to find out if they qualify for the WNCC grant program. Farms must be legitimate farming businesses and must have suffered losses on May 8th of which costs are not covered through insurance or other available programs.
