We hope to see you at this year's NC Landscape Contractor Pro Day! Join us as we offer a variety of technical, and safety/business classes to help fulfill your annual recertification requirements. We are excited to have STIHL at the event to demo some equipment and talk about equipment maintenance and a variety of professionals from surrounding counties, and NC State University. Pesticide Hazards and First Aid (8:30am-9:30am)- Luke Owen, Buncombe County Commercial Horticulture Agent

Learn about pesticide safety, and first aid practices to better prepare yourself, your business, and others around you. Learn about BMP for pesticide application, and what to do if exposed to a pesticide injury.

Holistic Tree Health- Keeping Trees Healthy to Resist Pests (9:30am-10:30am)- Steve Pettis, Henderson County Consumer/Commercial Horticulture Agent

Learn how to care for trees to prevent pest issues in the landscape. In this talk, Steve will discuss what BMP's are out there to put trees in a position to thrive. Learn how cultural practices can reduce pesticide usage, and is a crucial part of your IPM program in the landscape.

Bee Aware: How to Protect Pollinators (10:45am-11:45am)- Bart Renner, Transylvania County Agriculture Agent

In this talk, we will learn about the importance of pollinators to our green industry and how we can apply pesticide products while keeping these beneficial pollinators in mind. Pesticide applicator best management practices will be discussed, as well as navigating potential concerns that clients might have relating to pollinator safety.

Outdoor Power Equipment Maintenance (12:30pm-1:30pm)- David Sluder, Technical Sales Specialist

This demonstration will cover important topics related to outdoor power equipment maintenance to ensure safe and effective operation. Equipment will be demonstrated and discussed to learn more about what options are available for your landscape contractor business.

Landscape Business Primer: Law for Operators/Landscapers (1:30pm-2:30pm)- Andrew Branan, Associate Extension Professor, NCSU

In this talk, Andrew Branan will give us a crash course in liability considerations for your landscape contracting business. Other topics that will be covered include tax considerations, contracts, and more!

Break (2:30pm-2:45pm)

What is Wrong with my Plant? Diagnostic Steps to use in Problem Solving (2:45pm-3:45pm)- Rachel Douglas, Haywood County Consumer/Commercial Horticulture Agent

In this talk, we will learn effective questions to ask, and evidence to look for when diagnosing the various environmental, and biotic factors of an ailing plant.

Plant Selection: A Crucial Piece of your IPM Plan (3:45pm-4:45pm)- Sam Marshall, Western Area Specialized Agent, Nursery/Greenhouse Crops

Learn about the impact of plant choices when designing a landscape that can provide functionality, and durability as it relates to pest/disease control. The thought process of right plant, right place will be discussed to prevent issues from cropping up down the road in landscapes that you maintain.
