Join the Blue Ridge 4-H Rabbit Project and learn how to raise, care for, and show rabbits while building responsibility, confidence, and hands-on animal care skills! This five month project is designed for beginners, no prior experience required! In this project, youth will receive their own rabbit and attend workshops learning how to care for, raise and show their animal. The program concludes with youth showing their rabbit at the program show and the NC Mountain State Fair. Youth get to keep their rabbit at the end of the project.

Who: youth ages 5-18 in Buncombe and Henderson counties

Cost: $60

When: May - September 2026

Mandatory program dates:

Tuesday, May 12th: Registration Deadline

Tuesday, May 12th 6:00-7:00pm: Introduction Workshop @ Buncombe Extension Office

Tuesday, May 26th 2:00-5:00pm: Rabbit Pick-up @ Your County Extension Office

Week of June 1st: Individual Site Visits

Saturday, July 11th 2:00-4:00pm: Showmanship Clinic @ Henderson Extension Office

Saturday, August 22nd 2:00-4:00pm: Project Show @ WNC Ag Center

Saturday, September 12th: Mountain State Fair @ WNC Ag Center

All workshops and events (except program shows) will take place at either the Buncombe County Extension Office (49 Mount Carmel Rd, Asheville, NC) or Henderson County Extension Office (100 Jackson Park Rd, Hendersonville, NC).
