Keep Your License Current

Where did the time go?
It’s July and six months of 2019 have rolled off the pages into history. Perhaps you made those New Year’s Resolutions to attend classes and get your various industry credits during the winter or spring. Now it’s July and we all know how busy it has been this spring, trying to keep up with client demands; employee shortages; and environmental challenges. As an NC Licensed Landscape Contractor you may also be faced with the reality that you didn’t meet your resolution goals and now you need to get most if not all of those continuing education credits by the end of the month. So what does a busy Landscaper do? Sometimes that is a $64,000 question. Fortunately, in respect to your time we have developed a few classes that will help you meet those CEU requirements.

Last Chance Landscape Contractor Day JULY 26, 2019

We will be offering three classes in this series. You can choose to participate in all of the classes or they can each be taken independently, based on your personal needs.

Controlling Critters in our Landscapes and on our Farms

July 26, 2019 | 8:30 a.m.–noon
Mountain Horticulture Crops Research and Extension

455 Research Drive | Mills River, NC 28759

As we continue to build homes and businesses in areas that were previously wooded, many of our “neighbors” become the furry kind. These critters often find our landscapes plants and agricultural commodities handy buffets for browsing. Unfortunately, the damage that they do is typically, unacceptable. We will be looking at various management practices from repellants, trapping, to the use of rodenticides on the more common animals that tend to cohabit our landscapes. During the last hour, Officer Dan Cable with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission will be sharing information about the legalities of trapping and explain the permitting requirements and process. He will share some information on revenue streams for landscaper needing to trap and remove animals.

Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the herbicide, commonly known as; Roundup as well as 20 or more other herbicides. This is an herbicide that we in the Green Industry, agriculture industries, and even consumers have come to depend upon quite heavily. Unless you have been living under a rock; totally avoiding social media; or ignoring the news you’re probably aware of the controversy surrounding this product. This class is intended to provide you with the science to better understand the product and its risks as well as to make informed decisions about the various alternative products.
