About

The Extension Organizational Development (EOD) unit provides training on core competencies needed by all employees within Extension. EOD focuses its training and services on the following:
  • KNOWLEDGE of the organization; an understanding of its history, philosophy and contemporary nature of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and North Carolina Extension.
  • TECHNICAL SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE which involves the mastery of a scientific discipline, a research body of knowledge, a technical proficiency and/or skills unique to one’s position that enhances individual and organizational effectiveness within the context of their Extension roles. EOD involves on-campus specialists in the training and development of new county extension agents so that these new Extension employees develop the technical subject matter needed for their particular programmatic area.
  • PROGRAMMING or the ability to plan, design, implement, evaluate and account for significant Extension education programs that improve the quality of life for the citizens of North Carolina.
  • PROFESSIONALISM which involves the demonstration of behaviors that reflect high levels of performance, a strong worth ethic, a commitment to continuing education and to the mission and goals of the University, the College and Extension.
  • EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS including the ability to effectively transfer and receive information. This also includes the ability to successfully interact with diverse individuals and groups creating effective partnerships, networks and dynamic human systems.
  • LEADERSHIP so that those in managerial and supervisory roles have the ability to positively influence their subordinates as well as a wide range of diverse individuals and groups.

Purpose

The purpose of Extension Organizational Development (EOD) is to optimize Extension’s development as a whole by connecting all Extension employees with resources so that they may succeed in the workplace. We help all Extension employees become more efficient and effective, meet professional goals, and develop to their fullest potential.

Mission

EOD partners with Extension employees to help them recognize and develop their skills and talents so that they may contribute to the fulfillment of the land-grant mission of both North Carolina State University and North Carolina A&T State University.

Vision

Through opportunities provided by EOD, all Extension employees are more empowered to achieve greater levels of effectiveness, productivity and success in their work.
