2/17/21 – WNC Hemp Growers Meeting Online

The Western North Carolina Hemp Growers Meeting will be online Wednesday, February 17, 2021, from 5 to 8 p.m.

This will be a virtual (Zoom) meeting to provide new and existing hemp farmers and anyone else who is interested, with a status update of the WNC hemp industry. The program will feature growers discussing their successes and failures, a processor, and a fiber industry representative. We will also provide an update on the NC State University-led field research in the area. This program is organized by NC State Extension personnel in western North Carolina. This regional hemp growers meeting is designed to address the unique issues of western North Carolina growers.

There are county meetings taking place in other parts of the state in January that are more focused on the research conducted by NC State University faculty; you might want to register for one of those, too.

Here is the Eventbrite page for more information and to register for the event. You must be registered to attend.

This early evening, virtual event will feature western North Carolina hemp farmers sharing their experiences, good and bad. They will discuss how they market and sell their hemp and if they make value-added products. Two regional processors will discuss their experiences working with WNC hemp farmers. There is interest in growing fiber, so we will have someone from that industry address that, too. An update on NC State University-led hemp research in western North Carolina will also be covered.
