2020 4-H Mini Garden Project

— Written By 2020 Mini Garden Project

We are once again excited to be partnering with the Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers of Buncombe County again this year for the 4-H Mini Gardening Project.

This is an opportunity to “dig in” and have fun with your own vegetable garden while learning through input provided by Master Gardener℠ volunteers. This opportunity is open to ANY of our 4-H families and friends. We welcome all kinds of gardens: ground gardens, raised gardens, container gardens, and more.

Due to our 4-H face-to-face program restrictions this summer, we will be offering the program in a slightly different way than in previous years. Here’s how we will conduct this year’s program:

  • We will have a plant pick up day where families can stop by the Buncombe County office to pick up your box of plants.
  • After the pick-up, we will hold a virtual Zoom gathering where you can meet the Master Gardener volunteers and they can provide helpful hints for planting your garden.
  • During the summer growing months, we will ask participants to share photos of your garden and harvest and will have periodic Zoom updates as well.

If your family plans to participate and wants plants and seeds that the Master Gardener volunteers provide, you must sign up by Wednesday, May 27, 2020. If you have any questions about this program, please contact Holly Jordan at holly_jordan@ncsu.edu.
