FEB 7 Small Fruit Breakout Classes at the 2018 Apple School

A new opportunity is available for small fruit producers to hone their skills and get access to NCSU Specialists on February 7th at the 2018 Apple School. The closest conference for small fruit growers in this region is in Savannah, GA and in an attempt to provide production updates closer to home, Henderson County Extension is offering Small Fruit Break-out Classes in the morning at their annual Apple School. Area blackberry, blueberry, and strawberry growers should take advantage of this new opportunity.

Topics will include: U-pick blueberry production and disease update, strawberry production update, blackberry and strawberry diseases, growing primocane blackberries, new herbicides for small fruit weed management. The morning sessions will be divided between apple and small fruit tracks, with a combined afternoon focusing on important topics such as labor, food safety, and the integrated orchard management guide.

Location: Blue Ridge Community College Conference Hall, E. Campus Drive, Flat Rock, NC 288731

Time: 8am – 4:30pm with registration from 7:30-8:15.

Register: Pre-register by January 26, 2018 for $25, lunch included. $30 registration fee after Jan. 26th. Register by completing this online form here.
