Extension and Community Association (ECA) Club

— Written By Debbie Sparks

Do you wish you had spent more time learning from your mother or grandmother? Would you like to meet other young women with common interest? Do you want to learn new researched based information on a variety of topics? The North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCE) has sponsored women’s clubs since 1920 to promote a better quality of life for all through education, community service and leadership. An Extension and Community Association (ECA) Club can be made up of women from the same area, women with the same interest, etc. The NCCE – Buncombe County Center would like to start clubs for today’s women whether they are stay at home moms meeting during the day or working women meeting at night. Each club would have the support of the Buncombe County Extension Center providing the club with researched based information relevant to today’s needs. Interested individuals can also join one of our seven existing ECA Clubs that meet monthly throughout Buncombe County. Please contact Cathy Hohenstein, Buncombe County Cooperative Extension, (828) 255-5522 with any questions, or to receive a brochure about the Buncombe County Extension and Community Association.
